Safe Mode and Advanced Boot Options in Windows 8

If you have installed Windows 8 Developer Preview,in order to access Safe mode and Advanced boot options you got to press Shift+F8  during the startup.You would be able to see following screen with multiple options

 1.Repair your computer:If you have created a recovery image,then you can use the same to restore your system.

2.Safe Mode:You can start Windows 8 , just using basic core drivers of hardware components installed on your machine. Generally this is helpful ,when your PC starts working abnormally after installing a new device driver or connecting new incompatible hardware to your system.

 3.Safe Mode with Networking:Its same thing that’s described above but with additional option.You can use network card to gain access to LAN or internet connection. As Windows 8 Safe Mode with Networking option would load network card driver.So you can upgrade a drivers of faulty components or installing new anti-malware software or can update your antivirus definitions.

 4Safe Mode with Command Prompt:Its same as Safe Mode with command prompt feature in order to execute some manual commands.

 5.Enable boot logging:Creates a file so called ntblog.txt where all drivers that are loaded during the startup would be listed.The driver that causes failure during normal statrt-up of Windows 8 would be at last in the list.

 6.Enable Low Resolution Video:If you have display issues so caused because of faulty video driver or due to faulty video card then you can use this option.You can set or reset the display resolution.

 7.Debugging Mode would Enable Windows Kernel Debugger.

 8.Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure:This advanced option would be helpful if you encounter frequently reboots after each error.You can thus disable automatic restart.

 9.Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware driver:During the start up of Windows 8,each and every command loaded by your operating system so as to detect malware.You can even abort scanning if you feel this service has slowed down your PC for no reason!

 Before I wind up,if you were Windows 7 user,then you would have spotted out “Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)” and “Directory Services Restore Mode” are not available in Windows 8.
