WikiLeaks: Whistleblower Website That Exposes Wrongdoings Of Governments & Organizations
The WikiLeaks is directing his readers to an Internet address in Switzerland after being taken down by two providers in the U.S. two days, and France have tried to prohibit servers from the country of harboring sensitive data from the site. Users are being diverted to the site www.wikileaks.ch after the wikileaks.org, who had published secret diplomatic communications of the U.S., have been about six hours off the air.
Sites www.wikileaks.nl (the Netherlands) and www.wikileaks.de (Germany) are also allowing access to leaked documents.
EveryDNS.net The company, which helps computers to locate the sites of its members, said to have stopped providing services to WikiLeaks to 1am on Friday (GMT). The WikiLeaks was using EveryDNS and servers in Europe after that Amazon.com, which was the original provider, took the site down on Thursday.
The EveryDNS.net said he took the site down because he was being bombarded by hackers, and that this hindered other customers.
The U.S. government is furious with the leak of over 250 000 confidential communications from the State Department by WikiLeaks, which reveal the workings of American diplomacy and caused embarrassment to Washington, because they contain evaluations brutally frank about diplomats and allies the country’s rival. Amazon has denied that he had taken the site down because of pressure from politicians. It claimed that WikiLeaks had violated the terms of service for not being the holder of the rights of the content published. But on Tuesday, Sen. Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security, had questioned the Amazon for its connection with the WikiLeaks, and asked other companies that boycotted the host site WikiLeaks. To keep a site up, the WikiLeaks basically need three things: servers containing (“host”) content, a “record” would give ownership of a specific address (eg, wikileaks.ch or wikileaks.org) and a provider like EveryDNS, making the connection between the address entered by the user and the site itself. On Friday, the Pirate Party of Switzerland – part of a worldwide movement to fight for the free sharing of content online – said to be the owner of the address wikileaks.ch, and he was pleased to support the site “snitch.”
In conversations over the Internet with players from the British newspaper Guardian, Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks said he had already waited persecution, even in countries that tend to fly in defending freedom of expression.
